The written buyer specification record is a legal document required for all wild mushrooms sold in Alabama. It provides buyers with written proof of the conditions under which the mushrooms were identified, as well as where they were harvested and the people involved. This information can be used to protect both consumers and businesses alike.

A written buyer specification record must be affixed to all containers (boxes) of wild mushrooms sold in Alabama, and this record must remain affixed to the boxes until all of the fungi are either consumed or discarded by their purchaser(s).
